Chicago Pneumatic Air Compressor Maintenance

Find the service your CP compressor needs and when it is due. Choose your model family below, or send us the model, serial number and running hours for help.

Know what is due

QRS and RCP service schedules

Use the running-hour or calendar limit, whichever comes first. Low running hours do not remove the calendar requirement.

Match the complete model name, including suffixes such as “S.” These are selected service points for the listed models. We confirm the full schedule against your serial number, lubricant and operating conditions.

Extended-life lubricants can change oil-service timing. Dust, heat and moisture can require earlier service. Ask about your model and serial number.

Larger rotary screw compressors

CPF and CPVS 200, 270 and 340

The schedules below cover BQR-series units from serial BQR123747. Use whichever hours or calendar limit comes first. Earlier units and other serial series need their own schedule.

The ROTAIR Plus oil interval is a maximum under standard operating conditions. Higher temperatures and heavier duty can require an earlier oil change. Motor-bearing lubrication follows the motor’s own requirements.

CP-46 lubricant: oil, filter and separator intervals

For the BQR-series CPF and CPVS units listed above, CP-46 has the following limits. Use whichever comes first.

CPF 200 and CPVS 200
Oil and oil filter: 8,000 hours or 12 months.
Air/oil separator: 8,000 hours or 24 months.
CPF / CPVS 270 and 340
Oil and oil filter: 4,000 hours or 12 months.
Air/oil separator: 4,000 hours or 24 months.

Other inspections and air-filter tasks keep their own schedules. Confirm the oil already in the compressor before planning an extended service; these intervals do not apply to other lubricants.

Alarms, a damaged filter or rising separator pressure drop can call for work before the scheduled interval.

After the service visit

A clear record of the work

Your service report records the equipment, operating readings, maintenance completed and findings needing follow-up. Repairs recommended after inspection are identified separately from the work completed.

  • Readings you can refer back toHours, pressures, temperatures and applicable electrical or dryer readings.
  • Work and materials recordedWhat was inspected, serviced or replaced, including lubricant and parts used.
  • A clear next stepReview findings and plan the next service around your equipment’s requirements.

Checks match the equipment and the work agreed for the visit.

Other equipment needs its own schedule

Toolytics also services other manufacturers’ industrial compressors and air-treatment equipment. Each unit’s service plan follows its manufacturer, model, serial number, lubricant, operating conditions and service history.

The CP intervals above apply only to the listed CP equipment. For a mixed-brand system, send the make, model, serial number and hours for each unit. See how we plan maintenance for other manufacturers’ equipment.

Service light on? Compressor running hot?

Repeated temperature alarms, pressure loss, oil carryover, unusual noise or vibration need a repair diagnosis as well as a check of service history. Include the symptoms with your request.

For smoke, a burning smell or severe vibration, stop the compressor and call for service. Do not keep resetting a shutdown alarm.

Recurring pressure problems? Review the compressed air system before selecting replacement equipment.

Facing a major repair? Compare repair and replacement before buying another compressor.

Get the right service scheduled

Have your model, serial number and running hours ready, along with the last service date if known. Include your facility ZIP code and a workable shutdown time. If the model is not listed above or the history is incomplete, send what you have.

Toolytics handles industrial compressor service in Southern California and Southern Nevada. We’ll confirm the work and scheduling with you.
